Black Women in Architecture Brunch and Panel Discussion

This national virtual and in-person satellite event will take place across ten different states. Attendees can enter the virtual platform to view the program, followed by an in-person Detroit Black Women in Architecture Panel and brunch. Speakers will discuss their career experiences, their roles as mentors and mentees, and their vision for inclusive design in Detroit.  

About Noir Design Parti 

Noir Design Parti is exploring how black architects helped shape the physical identity of Detroit and their influence on design, the building community, and future generations. While Detroit’s black architects have developed its structures and spaces for decades, most are still largely unknown. Noir Design Parti was created in response to a lack of awareness of the impact African American architects have had in shaping the landscape of Detroit and surrounding areas. The 2016 Knight Arts Challenge winning project tells the stories and documents the professional journeys and creative works of Black Architects in Michigan through tours, exhibits, presentations, videos, photographs, map and a podcast (Hidden in Plain Site).
