About the event

Ford House’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence Program has invited artist Cody Norman to find inspiration in the estate’s home, collections, and landscapes for the creation of new work. Working collaboratively with Curator Isabelle Weiss and Ford House’s exhibitions team, Norman has created an outdoor exhibition of works made from collected plastic curated in dialogue with the estate gardens and architecture of this National Historic Landmark.  The exhibition runs September 1-30, with a meet-and-greet event on Thursday, September 19. About Ford House

Ford House is the historic family home of Edsel Ford, the only son of Henry Ford, and his wife, Eleanor. Ford House is located on a sprawling estate with beautiful grounds and gardens on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, where the couple raised their children — Henry II, Benson, Josephine, and William Clay — entertained friends and enjoyed hobbies. When Eleanor passed, she opened the estate to the public.  Now a National Historic Landmark, visitors from all over the world come to wander, wonder, and explore its beauty and uncover a unique piece of the American automotive story in metro Detroit.  The estate includes the historic residence and outbuildings, 87 acres of ground and gardens, and a Visitor Center with exhibits, dining, shopping, and special event spaces. Ford House is open year-round for grounds walks, tours, educational programs, special events, private rentals, dining, shopping, and more.
