About the event
This installation will feature a solar-powered video projection of all DJ performances in a Detroit warehouse. DJs in the retrospective include Mount Mariah (2021), LADYMONIX and Waajeed (2022), Father Dukes (2023), and Tammy Lakkis (2024). In addition to the video compilation, other elements of the installation include Solar Party’s “ON AIR OFF GRID” sign and an LED dance floor, both of which will be solar-powered. The video and music will run for six hours, so stop by, dance, and have fun!
About Solar Party Detroit
Solar Party Detroit rents solar-powered generators to outdoor events. Their goal is to not only provide power to events, but also to introduce people to solar energy. They are motivated to fight climate change and help to shift the culture of the entertainment industry to be more sustainable. They have focused on the DJ industry so far, and are working with Detroit DJs to demonstrate solar power. Solar Party Detroit is a participant in Design Core’s 2023 Detroit City of Design Challenge.
