Through visionary projects, from public works and ­immersive spaces to artifacts and publications, rootoftwo - the creative and civic studio of Cézanne Charles and John Marshall - blends science, technology, and sociology with creative practice to challenge standard narratives of progress.


rootoftwo’s Anyspace? Whatever., examines the technological systems that ­quietly structure contemporary civic life, from surveillance networks and­ algorithmic decision-making to the data­ infrastructures embedded within­ so-called “smart cities.” Rather than treating these systems as invisible background conditions, the interactive exhibition brings them into public view, ­inviting visitors to consider their social, political, and ethical implications.


Unfolding across ­multiple scales of participation through tabletop games, computer-generated films,­ archives, prints, sculptural installations, and architectural proposals, the­ exhibition functions as a forum for dialogue, positioning participation, speculation, and co-creation as tools for imagining more equitable technological systems.
