Detroit Month of Design Calendar & Google Account Features
Last updated: July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Detroit Month of Design (presented by Design Core Detroit) handles information when you use the Google account and calendar features on detroitmonthofdesign.org. It applies specifically to the optional features that let you sign in with Google and add festival events to your own Google Calendar.
What information we access
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address to create and identify your account on our website. If you choose to use the calendar features, we ask for two additional permissions:
-
Your availability (free/busy times) from your Google Calendar.
-
The ability to add events to your Google Calendar.
How we use this information
We use your free/busy availability only to suggest festival events that fit into your open time slots. We use calendar-write access only to add the specific festival events that you choose. We never read the contents of your existing calendar events, and we never modify or delete anything you did not create through our website.
What we store
We store your account email address and the festival events you have saved or added through our site. We store an access token from Google so the calendar features continue to work. You can disconnect our access at any time from your Google Account settings. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Detroit Month of Design's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
