Black Women in Architecture Brunch presented by Noir Design Parti
Time & Location
Sep 20, 2026, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
LOVE Building, 4731 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48208, USA
About the event
African American women make up 0.3% of the population of licensed architects in the United States. Generally, these women feel responsible for creating pathways for inclusive representation, for mentoring girls and younger colleagues, and an obligation to advocate design solutions rooted in equity, resilience, and community-centered innovation. This is especially true in Detroit, a city with an African American population of nearly 80%.
For the third consecutive year, Noir Design Parti (NDP) will join the Black Women in Architecture (BWA) network Brunch, a national hybrid event (virtual and in-person) with satellite locations hosting simultaneous events in twelve-plus cities across the United States.
For Detroit’s in-person segment, NDP will convene a brunch and interactive discussion among the city’s Black women in architecture, students, and allies for a video recording. Discussions will include career experiences, mentors and mentee relationships, and participants’ visions for inclusive design in Detroit.
There will be “paid registration”…
