About the event

How do the spaces, objects, sounds, and experiences around us shape the way we connect?

Moderated by Kiana Wenzell, Co-Executive Director of Design Core Detroit, the conversation will feature artist Salam Rida, a 2025 Michigan Central x Newlab Fellow and Detroit Month of Design exhibitor; architect Jaimelyn Neher, a key contributor of The Mezz at Michigan Central; and audio engineer Daniel Tomczak of Bing Audio.

Together, they’ll explore the intersection of architecture, emerging design, audio, product design, and community -- considering how creative disciplines can make spaces feel more welcoming, expressive, and alive. Set inside Michigan Central, the conversation reflects the spirit of the evening: a celebration of the visual and performing arts, Detroit’s creative ecosystem, and the power of design to shape the city’s next chapter.

The talk will begin promptly at 6:30PM, with musical performance by EDNA to follow.
