About the event
The Women's Innovative Social Enterprise (W.I.S.E) Partnership is creating an immersive fiber installation that functions as a sculptural environment, transforming textiles into a live, spatial experience. Artist will develop distinct yet interconnected elements inspired by fashion. Ranging from adorned crochet wigs to punk/rock, pierced accessories, and bling, this project blurs the boundaries between fiber art, fashion, and installation, celebrating softness, ritual, and everyday beauty practices within Black femme expression.
Fashion Through the Lens of Fibers transcends object making into environment, archive, and experience, offering viewers a layered, sensory encounter with fashion as both personal and collective expression. Our goal is to create a space for awareness, reclamation, and expression.
Opening day (September 4) consists of the installation being open for view, tote workshops happening onsite, food, and music.
On view September 4-6. Activation/workshops on September 6, 12-4pm.
