Pinpoint: An Immersive Culinary Experience

Pinpoint is a monthly human interaction residency series held every Tuesday at Flowers of Vietnam in Detroit, where food, design, and cultural storytelling converge into a fully immersive sensory experience.

Each month, a featured Detroit chef occupies the space for a four-week residency: three pop-up nights open to the public, followed by one invite-only sit-down dinner. What sets Pinpoint apart is the theme built around each chef: a complete sensory environment designed to reflect their cuisine, culture, and personal memory. 

Every residency features a custom art installation, a styled photo activation, ambient scent design, a curated soundtrack, and a guest keepsake - all co-designed with the chef. Guests choose their level of engagement: walk-in dining, a tiered scale activation add-on that includes a photo experience and keepsake, or a ticketed invite-only dinner where the full world is embedded into a four-course meal.

Pinpoint is produced by a three-person Detroit creative team rooted in culinary education, experience strategy, and digital storytelling. Our chef roster prioritizes Detroit-based chefs from African, Afro-Latin, Southeast Asian, Southern, and Middle Eastern culinary traditions, centering diaspora food culture as a legitimate and powerful form of design. 

For Detroit Month of Design, Pinpoint offers a September residency that frames food as a designed experience: from the arrangement of a floral set to the architecture of a tasting menu, every element is intentional, every sensory choice deliberate. This is design you can taste, smell, hear, and take home.
