STILL HERE: Rooted in Place

Want to learn more about the Corktown neighborhood?

The project uses creative experiences, movement, and public space to shape how people understand and engage with the city.

The experience begins at Michigan Central with a guided bicycle ride through Detroit, allowing participants to experience the city at a human scale. Along the route, participants will stop at a paint-by-numbers mural installation where they will contribute to a collaborative public artwork. The event concludes at the Pink Flamingo for an optional dinner and community conversation focused on food equity in Corktown and along the Warner Corridor.

Through movement, creativity, and dialogue, the project positions Detroit as a city to be experienced, explored, and understood through meaningful engagement.

Lions & Rabbits Center for the Arts is an art nonprofit based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We believe public art should be experienced, participated in, and created alongside community.

UN SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

We use Detroit's UNESCO City of Design designation as a call to action for Detroiters to embrace the Sustainable Development Goals in their own communities, contributing to the active effort of solving global interconnected issues.
