A Fashion Show Highlighting the Work of Wayne State University Fashion Design Alumni
Time & Location
Sep 12, 2026, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Amend Community Garden Detroit, 1518 Pennsylvania St, Detroit, MI 48214, USA
About the event
A Wayne State University (WSU) alumni fashion show at Amend Community Garden Detroit aims to highlight the talent, effort, and originality of our accomplished graduates in the context of an outdoor garden in full bloom with climate resilient heirloom plants. WSU Fashion Design alumni will showcase recent design works in a runway presentation at the garden. Siting this presentation at Amend will also make visible the interdisciplinary and collaborative work of our faculty in addition to promoting the opportunities our programs offer in the James P. Duffy Department of Art, Art History, and Design.
Alumni were selected to participate in this public event through an open call process. Jurors were asked to consider how applicants defined sustainability in their creative practices.
In addition to support from Design Core, this event is generously sponsored by WSU's College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Art's Development Office and the Office of Alumni Relations, the James P. Duffy Department of Art and Art History, the Fashion Design and Merchandising program, and faculty Margaret Hull and Allana Clarke.
A note on seating: This event is outdoors and unlimited seating will be available in the grass in addition to a limited number of chairs.
UN SUSTAINABILITY GOALS
We use Detroit's UNESCO City of Design designation as a call to action for Detroiters to embrace the Sustainable Development Goals in their own communities, contributing to the active effort of solving global interconnected issues.
