Deadline to apply is Sunday, April 21st at 11:59pm EST.
Festival events will be selected by a curatorial committee of local experts to be included in the official 2024 calendar.
Selected events and experiences will be listed on the Month of Design schedule, included in general festival marketing, and be provided with festival-specific promotional language and graphics. Additional marketing may also be provided based on media interest.

2024 Detroit Month of Design: Creative Currents
BRING YOUR EVENT TO THE FESTIVAL
Selected events receive the following through the festival platform:

One online calendar listing on official festival schedule (custom event webpage with a 300-word description, image, registration link, and hyperlink to event organizers website);

Inclusion in general festival marketing;

Provided with festival-specific promotional language and graphics;

Invitation to Month of Design orientation and inclusive design training session;

Additional marketing may also be provided based on media interest;

Submissions are open to the public. We place an emphasis on showcasing Detroit talent but are open to submissions from regional, national and international designers, brands and organizations.
Yes, independent event organizers are responsible for securing a space to host their in-person or outdoor events. Design Core will work to match designers with venues when possible but there is no guarantee.
Events and experiences are independently funded, managed and implemented by the event organizer. Design Core does not offer micro-grants for independent happenings or venue hosts. We recommend having a plan in place to attain the financial and technical support needed to execute your event, experience, or installation.
No, there is no application fee to apply for Detroit Month of Design. However, there is a $60 participation fee that selected event organizers are required to pay if your application is accepted into the festival. This fee supports costs associated with producing the festival and promoting your event.
