Art in the Garden: Create & Take

Art in the Garden: Create & Take is a hands-on family workshop where school-aged youth and their caregivers explore the connection between art, nature, and environmental stewardship. Participants will use natural and recycled materials to create unique take-home art projects inspired by plants, pollinators, and the beauty of the garden. Guided by the Detroit Art Teachers Association (DATA) and Peers Responding to Overlooked Matters in Social Environments (PR²OMiSE), this interactive experience encourages creativity, curiosity, and teamwork in an outdoor learning environment. Aligned with UNESCO's goals for quality education and sustainable communities, the workshop empowers young people to appreciate nature, develop artistic skills, and become thoughtful stewards of the Earth. All materials are provided, and every participant leaves with a completed artwork and new ideas for creating a greener future.
