Join us as prominent design curators Andrew Satake Blauvelt, Director, Cranbrook Art Museum; Katherine White, Curator of Design, The Henry Ford; and Shelley Selim, Curator of Automotive, Industrial, and Decorative Design, Detroit Institute of Arts


These three curators will discuss interesting updates to their collections and illuminate the differing collecting strategies of a contemporary art museum, American history museum, and an encyclopedic art museum, each with an emphasis on design in the US.



The panel discussion occurs on the closing weekend of Eventually Everything Connects: Mid-Century Design in the US. This large-scale survey of one of the most important and persistent movements of modern design in the United States in the twentieth century shines a light on Cranbrook’s pivotal role in its development and the contributions of additional women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and designers of color during this period.
