About the event
Fashion Through the Lens of Fibers is an immersive fiber installation and community experience featuring the work of fiber artists Sudani Shaah, Majesty Hope, and Taylor Childs in partnership with W.I.S.E. Partnership at the Love Building’s Container Residency.
The showcase explores fashion through the lens of fiber, highlighting adornment as a form of storytelling, cultural memory, and embodied knowledge. Featuring live activations, an immersive installation, and interactive tote bag dying/ making workshops, the project invites community members and fashion and art lovers to explore themes of Black femme identity, care, memory, healing, and connection through fiber.
UN SUSTAINABILITY GOALS
We use Detroit's UNESCO City of Design designation as a call to action for Detroiters to embrace the Sustainable Development Goals in their own communities, contributing to the active effort of solving global interconnected issues.
